Good bots welcome — bad bots stay out

Verified identity only

A lot of the web's traffic isn't people — it's bots, and they split cleanly in two. The good bots work for legitimate companies: search engines that index these listings so fans can find them, and AI agents people send to plan their night out. Both are welcome here, and they can read everything a human can.

The bad bots are a different story, and the way we separate them is identity: a good bot can prove who it is — a bad bot won't. AI agents sign their requests with Web Bot Auth (HTTP Message Signatures), verified against the operator's published key directory. Search crawlers verify the classic way: their IP addresses reverse-resolve to the operator's own domain. A bot that claims a good name but fails the check is treated as a bad bot — spoofing is the tell.

GET /events HTTP/1.1
Signature-Agent: "verified directory"
Signature: sig1=… → agent identity verified ✓
Reverse DNS → crawl-66-249-66-1.googlebot.com ✓ crawler verified

Good bots also behave like it: they respect robots.txt, keep to a polite request rate, and never touch logins or checkout. Behavior is the second check — a verified name moving like an attack gets shown the door.

The guest list. Only verified bots from legitimate operators get in:

Kept out — the bad bots

Ticket scalper bots Content & price scrapers Credential stuffers Spam & click-fraud bots DDoS botnets Bots spoofing a good bot's name

The rule at the door: unverified and anonymous automation doesn't get in. If it isn't on the guest list and can't prove who runs it, it doesn't get the listings.

RUN A GOOD BOT?If your company operates a legitimate crawler or agent that isn't listed yet, have a human get in touch — verified operators get added to the guest list.
